The kids are back in school and that means the holiday season is right around the corner.  My grandparents have a tradition where they send the great grandchildren a card for every birthday and holiday.  The joy on their faces when they receive their own cards is priceless. You don’t have to be a child to enjoy a holiday card.  Cards make you smile, no matter the age.

I love receiving photo cards, especially from family I don’t see often.  The last couple of years, I have made an effort to send out Christmas Cards that are personalized from our family.  It’s a great way to show someone you are thinking about them!

Minted has a gorgeous selection of Holiday Photo Cards.  It’s easy to find the right card for your family at Minted.  You can choose by the number of pictures, format (such as flat or folded), occasion or subject and even by styles like modern or vintage.

Once you select your style of card, you are ready to personalize it!  Most of the card elements are customizable, from font to colors, even the location of each.  Add photos and a storyboard to truly make it your own.

I am a huge fan of personalized greeting and stationery.  Whether it be greeting cards or birthday party invitations, I love being able to create and customize it in order to make it my own.

“Since 2008, Pear Tree Greetings has helped tens of thousands of customers celebrate life’s memorable moments with a collection of uniquely personal, high-quality greetings and stationery. With hundreds of designs for every occasion and available for purchase online, Pear Tree Greetings inspires connection between friends and loved ones.”

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the service at Pear Tree Greetings.  My pastor is always sending out cards to members of the church, so I decided to surprise him with stationery personalized with his name.

Personalizing stationery at Pear Tree Greetings is as easy as pie.  I simply browsed the personalized stationery category until I found a design he liked.  I decided the Personalized Folded Note Cards in Textured Drops were perfect!

After clicking on the design, I customized it to to include his name.  I was able to choose from a variety of fonts and colors.  Once I settled on his name, I approved the proof and ordered!  SO EASY!

The note cards came a few days later and are gorgeous.

(please note: I have removed his last name from the picture. The white line is not part of the design.)

The card stock is sturdy and the ink is vibrant!

I like how this card is blank inside so he can customize his greeting to fit any occasion.

I love the cards and can’t wait to try the kids birthday party invitations next year when the twins turn the big 13!  There are so many possibilities at Pear Tree Greetings, include photo personalized Christmas Cards, and the designs are too cute for words!

Next up in our Back to School Event, something that says “I love you”!

As a mother of six kids, I understand the importance of communication with my children and their need to feel love unconditionally.  There have been many days where they would go to school upset over something, while I stayed behind wishing I could talk, hug, hold, reassure, love them.

Say Please has a wonderful product to help you stay connected with your child on those rough days, or just any day.  Their heartfelt lunchbox notes are little cards that you can sneak into pockets, lunchboxes or just hidden in spots around their room.  They are simple ways to show your kiddo that you love them.

The “LunchBox Love” notes are made with quality card stock and come in a small, credit card sized carrying case.  Each volume contains 12 cars, 10 with phrases and two blank for a personalized message.

Say Please recently sent me the Teens & Twins and the Kids edition of Lunchbox Love cards to review.  Oh how I wish I had known about these cards before now!  The cards and the messages are beautiful and so easy to use!  I can simply pull out one and tuck it away for them to find later.

Tweens & Teens LunchBox Love (shown above) and Kids LunchBox Love (shown below)

“Thanks for helping me.”

I love that the messages also include ones that I can use to say I’m sorry.  I know I have bad days and it effects my child throughout their day.  Those mornings where they just won’t get out of bed to get ready for school and I am grumpy and irritated? Those are the days that a simple love note would have emphasized my regret in starting the day on the wrong foot while hopefully making their day better in the process.

“I’m sorry we fought.”

Maybe your child has been having a hard time at school lately.  How awesome for them to sit down at lunch and find a note of encouragement in their lunchbox, to know you are thinking of them.

“You are beautiful both inside and out.”

Don’t forget your teenager!  I think teens need reassurance most of all.  The Teen & Tweens Lunchbox Love cards have notes of encouragement, ways to open conversations or just simply let them know you are proud of them.

“You can tell me anything. I promise not to judge you.”

There are several volumes available, including seasonal, children and notes suitable for everyone.  The Kids volumes feature bright fun colors while the Tweens & Teens are simple and appeal to the “grown up” side of your child. The back of each note has a fun quote or joke, too.

School starts here in about a week and I can’t wait to tuck these cards in secret spots for them to find throughout the year.

When I was pregnant with Kinsley and trying to come up with a name for her,  I posted on Facebook asking for suggestions.  I said I didn’t want to name her something you could find on a pencil at the drugstore.  A friend of mine commented, “Why? Kids like their names on pencils.”  And you know what?  They really do!

While my three youngest children do not have pencil names, I don’t have to worry that I have banished them into the land of boring school supplies.  Frecklebox has a great selection of personalized gifts that your kids will love!

At Frecklebox, you will find personalized gifts for kids like lunch boxes, puzzles, binders, sticker and much more!  The lunch boxes even have chalk boards inside so you can write notes to the kids!

We recently ordered a binder, folder and some bookmark’s for the twins.  They both are in love with animal prints so they were excited about the various animal print products offered at Frecklebox.

Binders are a thorn in my side.  The normal binders you find at office stores are the ugly ducking of the school supply family.  My kids beg me to pay extra for the ones with the clear sleeve in front so they can decorate and give them some personality.  They are usually flimsy and consist of thin plastic enclosing thin cardboard.  The girls go through them so quickly because there is hardly anything binding the binder!  They split at the seams so I end up buying them over and over.  As you can see from the picture, the personalized binders from Frecklebox have good, solid seams.  Cute and durable!

The pocket folder and bookmarks were a big hit, too.  The bookmarks have different prints on each side so it’s really like have two bookmarks in one!

Frecklebox even has free personalized coloring pages!  This is Kinsley’s favorite!  I just add her name to the page and print it out.  The coloring pages include everyday and holiday themes.

Oddly enough, Frecklebox doesn’t have pencils!  I think the girls are going to be alright since their binders and folders have made them quite cool in school.  Both girls got raves from all their friends!  Thank you, Frecklebox!

Oh how I wish I could go to a blog conference!  I have been blogging for seven years and have to make it to one.  I dream of meeting bloggers, learning cool things, scoring some swag and tales of after hours shenanigans.

Instead, I sit home and read how much fun the cool kids are having while sulking in my pj’s.

If you are one of the cool kids, then you probably already know you must be prepared with business cards!  You want everyone to remember who you are and visit your blog later right?

Tiny Prints makes is super easy to head out to the blog conferences armed and ready to make your impression!

You can create your own personal business cards in no time flat at Tiny Prints.  They have several option available, whether it be as simple as adding your logo to an ready-made design or by letting your create juices flow onto a fresh canvas custom made by you!  You can add your personal photos, logos, and design accents to a variety of unique business card formats.  If you are looking for something a bit different, Tiny Prints also offers folded and square business cards.  What is is about square cards that makes my heart swoon?

So while all you lucky duckies are having the time of your life,  I will be here making my business cards of hopes and dreams!  If you build it, they will come, right?  Or in this case…if I build it, I can come?

I love getting holiday cards in the mail.  We always display them for everyone to see when they come to visit.  This year, I made some personalized holiday cards and am slowly getting them all addressed and ready to go in the mail this week.

There was just one thing that kept bugging me.  I have six kids and only put the five that are still home on the cards.  My oldest has moved out and started a family of my own.  I felt like I was betraying her by not listing her in my holiday greetings.  No one tells you about these little side effects when your child leaves the nest.

So I headed over to Amy Adele and made some holiday greetings for her little family!  My guilt is gone and she has her first holiday cards to send out.  Problem solved!

There were many templates to choose from at Amy Adele and I knew I had to feature Liam in the picture since it is his first Christmas. I decided on the Christmas Dots Photo Card.  The entire process was pretty easy. I just uploaded Liam’s picture and dropped it into the template.  I customized the greeting with their names and placed my order!

The photo cards arrived the next week and I love them!  They came wrapped in a pretty ribbon and even included a Thank You note!

Amy Adele Photo Cards

I was surprised at how vivid the colors were on the cards!  This is because Amy Adele’s exclusive Holiday Photo Card designs are printed on heavy, matte card stock made from 100% post-consumer recycled fiber. Their revolutionary digital printing technology produces unbelievably vivid and natural colors.  The card looked so much nicer in person than it did online!

When I gave them to my daughter, she was so excited.  She loved them so much! I feel like Mom of Year!

With the holidays coming up, you may be struggling to find good gift ideas.  There is always that one person, that no matter how hard you search, you can never find that one perfect gift.  How about a gift that keeps on giving?

Bluebell Giving is a greeting card company with a twist.

How it works

You make a donation, and the recipient of the card can choose the charity!  You purchase a card, donate an amount and the person you give the card to chooses the charity that the money will go too.

Step One: Get your cards.

Explore the online shop and pick your favorite cards. All the cards are $3.00 and they ship them to you for free.

Step Two: Make a Donation.

When you’re ready to use a card, return to the Bluebell website and activate the card’s unique code to make a donation.

Step Three: Let the recipient choose.

The recipient of your card visits the Bluebell website and uses the code to choose a charity.

That’s it!

Bluebell Giving does not deduct any fees from donations. If the giver of a card donates $20, the charity that the recipient chooses will receive exactly $20.

It’s a cool, unique gift and a great way to inspire others to make a difference!

The holiday’s are right around the corner.  And with the joy, comes stress.  What to buy, what to eat, should I dress the dog up in a pumpkin costume?

I am determined this year to make the season about less stress and more celebration.  This year I am armed with a plan and ready to conquer this Holiday Season!

Organize, Organize, Organize
Santa isn’t the only one making a list.  Lists can save you time and keep you organized.  Whether its To-do lists or shopping lists, they can keep you on track and in budget.

Always store holiday decoration or supplies in a clearly labeled container in a permanent location.  This one goes out to my loving husband who shoves the decorations in a different location every year, resulting in broken ornaments and a cranky wife.

Don’t Go Overboard
I have spent so many years obsessing over the perfect gifts, the perfect decorations and the perfect food.  I soon learned that that big fancy gift you bought the toddler is not nearly as cool as the box it came in.  My family could also care less if my door wreath matches the door mat and they would much rather have anything with dip then something they can’t pronounce the ingredients too.

Shop Early
I do not like to buy gifts in April for a holiday in December. My kids grow and change so much in that time and it makes me nervous to commit to a gift.  But equally hate to wait until the last minute and spend endless hours on my feet searching a depleted market.    This is my biggest stress.  I am going to make it a goal to buy one gift everytime I go to the mall or department store to get my other needs.   I have a list in my purse of who to buy for and in no time, my list is gone!

Shop Smart
Create a budget and stick to it. You do not want to be paying for last Christmas, this Christmas.

Two words.  Black Friday.  I actually save up for this event.  You can get items for ridiculously low prices.  I plan my trips according to opening times and by what I want most.  Some years, I can do all my shopping in one frantic day and have the next month to relax.

I also take advantage of a good deals.  I completely made over my Christmas tree one year for five dollars at the after Christmas sales.  It was hard waiting that year to see it decorated but so worth it.  I got new lights, decorations, balls, everything…for FIVE dollars.

My step-mother is famous for buying gift baskets of perfumes and lotions for two dollars after Christmas.   She gives them out all year round!

This goes for Halloween too!  You know those glow sticks you see in the Halloween section?  They are perfect for the 4th of July too!

Plan (and Act) Ahead
I am notorious for procrastinating.  In the hustle and bustle, there is always one thing I forget to get done on time. Christmas Cards.   I LOVE getting Christmas Cards and displaying them. I love all the different shapes and sizes they come in and all the messages included.  One kind I have never seen though, are magnetic Christmas Cards.  Storkie.com has a great selection of Christmas Cards and carry the magnectic cards too.  How cool would it be to have your Fridge covered in holiday love as well?

Pass the Buck
You spent hours shopping for those perfect gifts and there is no reason why you can’t pass the wrapping responsibilites to someone else like an older child or spouse.  This can also including baking, cleaning, etc.  My daughter, who was 10 at the time, baked dozens or cookies and breads last year and made care packages for everyone in the family.  She loved baking and loved even more how much everyone raved about her cookies!

Avoid Spreading Yourself To Thin
The church bake sale?  The school fall festival?  The work party?  You don’t have to do them all.  You can say no.  No one will give you coal.

Treat Yourself
You planned. You shopped.  You cooked.  Hello pedicure!  There is no better way to shake off that holiday stress than a little pampering.

Make it Yourself
Made with Love.  It’s an expression we hear but don’t always utilize.  Some of my favorite gifts are homemade!  Tap into your talents and run with it!  There is a wealth of ideas online.

Sometimes spending $30 on a clown costume makes no sense when you can make it for $3. I made these costumes for the twins a couple years ago and spent a whopping $10.  They got sooooo many compliments and Reagan even won a costume contest!

Remember the Reason
There is a reason we are celebrating the holidays.  Don’t lose sight of that in all the craze.  Enjoy your family and appreciate what you have, not what you don’t.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the Storkie holiday blogging program. I received compensation for my participation. All opinions are 100% mine.
