Cuisinart Single Serve Keurig Brewing System Review

My husband is a big coffee drinker. He will brew up a fresh pot on the weekends and I love waking up to the smell and enjoying a cup of Joe with breakfast. What I don’t love is washing the post on Monday after he left it half full the previous day and it is beginning to grow into a fuzzy science experiment. I told him I wanted to get him a single serve brewing system, but the old school ways in him balked at the suggestion.

“The cups are too expensive.”

“I like having a pot ready when I want a cup.“

So, when BuyDig asked me if I wanted to review the Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System powered by Keurig, I jumped on the chance. I knew this system would debunk all his convictions about using a traditional coffee brewing system.

The Cuisinart Brewer is a single serving brewing system, meaning you can make one cup at a time. It’s super easy to use: just pop in one of the 200+ Keurig K-Cups, select your serving size and watch the magic! In under one minute, you have a refreshing beverage to start your day.

When our Cuisinart Brewing System came, my husband was skeptical. Even more so because I unpacked it and pushed his beloved coffee pot aside! After setting it up and showing him how it worked, he was still a bit hesitant.

The Cuisinart came with the brewing system and a sample of K-Cups to get us started. Set up was simple. I washed the parts, installed the filter and added water to the reservoir. The reservoir holds 80 ounces so it is ready to go whenever you want to use it.

Once you are set up and ready to go, open the head and pop in a K-Cup. Close the head, select your serving size and push brew. It will begin brewing and a minute later, you are ready to enjoy. Isn’t that the easiest thing you have ever heard?

With the Cuisinart Brewer, you aren’t limited to K-Cups. Remember when my husband said that the K-Cups are too expensive? They do run about .75 cents each cup but when you consider what you would pay at a coffee house, it is a steal. But still, I had to convince him. What he didn’t know, is that the Cuisinart comes with a My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter. It is stored on the side and you just open the secret compartment, put in your ground coffee and use the brewer just like you would a regular, disposable K-Cup. I think this was the feature that convinced him that it was time for a change in his coffee habits.

The Cuisinart Brewing System is fully programmable. It can be set to turn on/off at a certain time, brew a certain serving size…the temperature can even be set. It has five serving sizes, from 4 to 12 ounces. The drip tray has different levels you can remove to accommodate taller travel mugs. There is also a hot water button that just dispenses hot water and a rinse button to rid any residue from the previous cup.

The brewing system isn’t limited to just hot coffee or tea, you can also make iced beverages as well. There are special iced K-Cups just for this purpose. I have been using the Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee K-cups lately and it is a little slice of Heaven each morning. The Cuisinart doesn’t brew cold coffee but you can brew over ice. The special iced cups brew more concentrated and on the 4-6 ounce serving setting. When the coffee hits the ice, it melts the ice partially, so you are essentially left with the perfect balance for iced coffee.

So, how are his arguments toward a new brewing system holding up? Well, its safe to say, he is a fan. His old brewer has been tossed and he is a happy camper with his fresh cup of coffee every morning before work, something he didn’t have time for during the week. And myself? Well, I was an occasional coffee drinker but didn’t make myself any coffee during the week because it was just me who would drink it. I am now horribly hooked to the ice coffees! I can’t wait to try different flavors, like the Snapple Iced Teas.

I really can not find a thing wrong with this brewer. It’s the perfect brewer for at home or while entertaining. In under one minute, you can brew fresh coffee (hot or cold), tea, hot cocoa and even lemonade. The selection of K-Cups is amazing and the ones we have tried so far have been very tasty. When my husband made coffee on the weekends, I would add creamer or hot cocoa to it. I am finding that I don’t need to do this now, as the coffees are very flavorful on their own.

Difrax Pacifier Review and Giveaway

When I had my first son 5 years ago I cried when I discovered he would not take a pacifier. I tried them all which in the end just led to a drawer full of pacifiers to be thrown away. He was a fussy baby that always needed soothing and I was his built in pacifier. SO when I had my second son 2 and a half months ago I decided to offer him a pacifier from birth. He LOVES his binkie. (hooray!) I quickly discovered there are SO many different brands, shapes, colors, styles. It’s overwhelming. That’s where Difrax is different.

The Difrax 3-Stage Pacifier System is a “stylish pacifier designed to stimulate baby’s happiness at every stage & age.” Difrax is a world-renowned European baby product company making their debut in the US market with this innovative design. Difrax pacifiers come in two styles: Classic and Orthodontic. Each style has a 3-stage design to accommodate growth and development.

0-6 months is the perfect first pacifier for a preemie or newborn, as the size of the nipple and shield has been scaled down to accommodate their smaller features. This design also has the softest nipple texture. Classic or orthodontic.

6-18 months is larger in size yet still suited to the baby’s development. The nipple is still soft, but a bit firmer than the newborn nipple. Classic or orthodontic.

18+ months is unique in its design, because the nipple is solid, which prepares the child to be weaned from pacifier use. Classic or orthodontic.

Difrax Pacifiers have a unique butterfly shape to prevent the nose from being obstructed. The added holes in the design allow airflow to reduce skin irritation. The Classic design has a round shaped nipple that is more like a mother’s breast. The orthodontic style has a rounded top side to rest against the baby’s palate while the baby’s tongue presses against the flat side. It stimulates the development of the palate, tongue, and jaw muscles. I was sent the orthodontic 0-6 month style at such a great time because I was just starting to switch my baby over to an orthodontic style.

I was really excited to see the style of these pacifiers. Have you seen how boring the designs are for boys? I am not a sports fanatic. I don’t want my son’s pacifier to have a basketball, soccer ball, football, etc. on it. These pacifiers have bright colors and abstract designs that pleases this mom. But, I was still skeptical. Would my son really take this style?

He played with it with his mouth for awhile but he didn’t refuse it altogether. When it came time for nap I tried the pacifier again.

It’s a work in progress but I love this product. I think they have a fantastic advantage with their 3-stage system because it is unique in the US market. I look forward to trying different versions as my son grows older.

Remember awhile back when the site was continually being tagged by Google for malware? Yoshi did an amazing job of moving the site and securing the blog. He might put a post up now and then but mostly we keep him locked in the closet, analyzing our files. Don’t worry, I feed him. He likes food.

Many moons ago, Yoshi, Andi and I worked for this mean old lady at a blog design company. (Just kidding, we actually love that mean old lady). Andi just had probably the most adorable baby on earth so she has hopped on the Kate n’ Kaboodle team and is taking over the baby reviews! She also does crazy things with yarn.
