Is losing weight part of your New Year’s Resolution? Or are you simply trying to eat better as part of a healthy lifestyle? For me, it’s a little of both! That’s why I was so excited to be given the opportunity to review The Complete Idiot’s Guide to 200-300-400 Calorie Meals, by Heidi McIndoo, M.S, R.D., L.D.N, and Ed Jackson.

This is a very handy little book! As the title suggests, this book offers recipes that has a lot to offer for the calorie conscious. First of all, it will help you to calculate how many calories you should be eating based on your weight, how much weight you need to lose, and how active you are. It is chock full of easy to prepare recipes for breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, slow-cooker/one-pot meals, side dishes, and snacks!
My daughters and I chose to make Scrambled Eggs and Potatoes, which only has 114 calories per serving! Plus, it was super easy, so my 11 year old could make it with only a little supervision!
Basically, you cooked the potato in the microwave, chopped it into cubes, and folded it into the cooking egg, omelet style. It was extremely fast and tasty. We were able to make it on a morning where we would have otherwise had cereal in the amount of time that we had.
Here is our finished product! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is an inexperienced cook trying to learn to cook healthy, or for experienced home cooks who are looking for quick, easy, no fuss recipes! I plan on using this book to put together recipes on busy week nights when I might otherwise order some high calorie takeout!

That looks pretty awesome. I love EASY low-cal meals but can never seem to find them easily. Thanks for sharing!
I need to buy this book. My family needs some new healthier recipes entered into our weekly meal rotations.
I really need a book like this. I need to lose a lot of weight. Sometimes I buy weight watchers or lean quisine(sp?) but they have a lot of sodium. I just want meals that are fast, easy and healthy. I’m hoping this will be a giveaway soon

Quick, easy, and no fuss recipes are my kind of ways to cook! Unfortunately, they aren’t the healthiest in calorie wise. I can definitely use this information.

Wow, that could be such a useful book. I’m actually a pretty good cook but really sometime I have no idea how many calories are in a given dish (I would have estimated much more for those eggs and potatoes for example) and this could help me to plan means.
That scrambled eggs and potatoes actually looks kinda tasty. I think that would be a book I would (or will) purchase in the future. If the recipes are that easy, it might actually be put to use quite a bit.
i do love scambled eggs and potatoes.;)yum!;)ty;)
