This picture just breaks my heart.  Last week, my son was making Kinsley macaroni and cheese.  She was sitting there chatting with him and he took the noodles off the burner and put them in the sink.  In that split second, Kinsley put her entire hand on the burner.

Words can not describe listening to the screams of agony for the next hour and a half while we waiting for her to be treated.  In my 20 years of raising six kids, I have never heard such screams, even when my son was run over by a truck.

This picture is a couple days after it happened.  She has two burns on each finger, one big one down the thumb and the entire pad of her palm is burned.   It’s really hard to see in the picture, the magnitude of this injury.

It astounds me how quickly the body heals.  We have it wrapped up and change the bandage every night.  It’s like unwrapping a Christmas present because we are all so eager to see her progress each day.  Today, she is left with two blisters on her fingers, the thumb one that is slowly healing and the palm ones have diminished by half.  I am so thankful it wasn’t worse and that she has had virtually no pain since the day it happened.

About Melanie

Melanie has been awesome since she was born, so she's quite the expert on the subject. Never mind that everyone else has been doing the same thing. All that matters is that she is an expert. Melanie knows awesome.
