Instant Chalkboard {review & giveaway}

Instant Chalkboard is a Peel & Stick chalkboard application that allows you to place a chalkboard or chalkboard shape anywhere you want!

The material is removable so when you’re tired of it, you move it, or just throw it out.  No more messy permanent paint!  The items come compete with chalk and installation videos to show you how to install the sticker with nothing but a credit card or driver’s license.

I choose the sheet version of the Instant Chalkboard. I had been wanting for some time to use chalkboard paint underneath the bar area of the dining room for Kinsley to use.  This was a cheaper and easier way to accomplish a chalkboard for her.

I have installed vinyl decals many times so I felt pretty confident installing the Instant Chalkboard.  There is an instructional video on the site to help with installation.

Unlike the vinyl decals I have used in the past, the Instant Chalkboard is repositioning so if I didn’t have it lined up right, I could easily remove it and reposition.  This was an awesome feature because I was working with a larger piece of material.

Since Kinsley wasn’t feeling well, I decided to surprise her and install this before she woke up one morning. I unrolled the material and held it up to the left hand side of the cupboard.  Since I was working alone, I choose to just apply it bit by bit rather than remove the entire piece from the backing. I just removed the edge of the paper, applied it to the wall and continued down the piece until I reached the end.  Afterward, I took a credit card and smoothed it out.  Easy Peasy!

I wrote her name on it and it was ready to go when she woke up.  She loved it.  She spent hours drawing through out the day. The Instant Chalkboard drew all the kids attention and soon, everyone had contributed their own art.

Pro’s & Con’s

I did notice that my material, even though it came in a roll, did have some creases.  It is a larger piece and may have creased during unrolling.  It was more difficult working out the bubbles in a piece of this size but I was able to do so with a credit card.  I also noticed that if you have a particularly sharp piece of chalk will leave light permanent markings on the material. It’s just a couple things to be aware of if you purchase a large sheet.

This is an extremely affordable way to make a chalkboard wall.  It was easy to set up (less than 10 minutes) and it writes on this material in much the same manner as a real chalk board.  It looks authentic!  I love that I can move it to any part of the house if I want to.

The possibilities are endless.  Instant Chalkboard comes in many shapes and sizes on the website and I think this would be fun to use in a personal cutter as well to make a custom chalkboard or chalkboard labels.
