A couple weeks ago, I was reading a story written by a blogger sharing the tragic day a dresser fell on her daughter. The pictures were gruesome. They showed a toddler with staples going from one ear to the other across her skull. She was the lucky one! She survived.
This is a very real danger. I admit, the first time I heard of a child dying from a dresser was on Desperate Housewives of all places. It is something that never crossed my mind as my first five children were growing up. I have learned how common it is recently and it is shocking how many children have died. Just Google “a dresser fell on my child” or similar phrases. You will see the word death in every summary.
It’s scary. But it is also preventable!

Within the past 48 hours in Chicago alone there have been two more incidents where a television and dresser have fallen on toddlers. On Tuesday, a one year old was killed by a falling tv and yesterday a two year old was critically injured by a falling dresser that had a tv on it. That child is now in serious condition.
These two tragedies are just the latest of 5 such incidents since October, 2011 where 3 other children from the Chicago area died from falling furniture and televisions. The article in today’s USA Today states, as we at KidCo already knew, that they CAN be prevented with proper anchoring systems!
That’s in Chicago alone.

Can I tell you several products I love and NEED? I am so desperate for these because I have two boys and my youngest is a danger seeking daredevil at 1 1/2 years old. I need the Outlet Plug Cover, Soft Corner Protectors, and my super most fear is windows because my almost 4 year old learned how to open windows so I am thinking of buying the Window Stops and the Mesh Window Guard.
